Perpetuum (Latin for ongoing) is the 2015 release commemorating 200 years of Ardbeg Distillery.
According to the distillery statement it is “Ardbeg’s past, present and future all in one bottle”. Bill Lumsden, the whisky creator, has taken inspiration from the diverse styles of whisky his predecessors have created for the last 200 years. He mixed very old and very young Ardbegs from bourbon barrels and sherry butts. Had he put more focus on the past or on the present will remain his secret, we can only guess… The Distillery Release bottled with higher abv (49.2% vs. 47.4%) was available exclusively at the distillery shop.
