The Clan Denny range was introduced in the early 2000s and originally included well-aged single grain whiskies. It was bottled by Hunter Hamilton & Co., a subsidiary of Douglas Laing & Co. the company run by the Laing brothers, Fred and Stewart. In 2013 brothers parted their ways and split the company assets. Recent bottlings of Clan Denny consist of single malt, single grain and blended malt whiskies and are marketed by Douglas McGibbon & Co., another subsidiary of Douglas Laing & Co., now with Fred at the helm. Glengoyne 2007 was added to the range in June 2017, the whisky spent 10 years in refill hogshead no. DMG 11893 and was bottled at 48% abv. Only 450 bottles were produced.
Nose: malty and fruity, vanilla, toffee, breakfast cereals, apples, grapes, orange and lemon peel and dash of white pepper.
Palate: sweet and spicy, sweet cereals, vanilla, toffee, caramel, raisins, pepper, cinnamon, touch of licorice and subtle oaky dryness in the background.
Finish: medium long, with notes of sweet cereals, vanilla, caramel, hints of pepper and ginger.
