For a truly spiritual Christmas
Did you use to sneak up to the Christmas tree and steal the decorative treats when you were a kid? Do you miss the mixture of excitement and indulgence felt at the time? Well, it might be time for you to get hold of the Christmas decorations that will be more in line with your more current tastes.
An unusual offer has recently been announced by Angels’ Share Glass, a company specialising in manufacturing a wide range of decorative items made of glass, including miniature glass angels containing some Scotch whisky. In anticipation of the festive season, they have entered collaboration with one of the independent bottlers, Douglas Laing & Co, as a result of which a new range of Christmas tree baubles has been created. Baubles filled with… whisky!
Each set consists of four baubles, in four different colours, each filled with 50 ml of whisky, the volume found in a standard miniature bottle. The filling comes from Douglas Laing, and is made up from their standard offer whiskies, including Big Peat, Timorous Beastie, Scallywag and Rock Oyster.
The bauble sets have been priced at £48, but due to possibly unexpected demand and all the prepared sets having been sold out, Angels’ Share Glass ask for understanding and patience – the bauble are now being manufactured to order, with despatches promised for October.
It is not the first and most likely not the last initiative of the kind. A few weeks earlier the English Lakes Distillery launched a similar set of Christmas decorations, however in their case the baubles were smaller – 20 ml volume – and contained gin, whisky, vodka and liqueurs.
We are now looking forward to further suggestions of how to make our Christmas season more spiritual.
